A True Toe Tale...

WARNING!!!
The following pictures should not be viewed by those who are faint of heart.

"Once upon a time, in a faraway land..."

This is how my tale beginnings.

Two years ago I found that I had a wart growing on the bottom of my left toe.  This did not come as a great surprise to me being that I happen to be "wart pron" (perhaps the wonderful urge to run barefoot!?), but nevertheless, I thought I would disappear and life would be the same.

I was wrong.

A few months ago I looked at it again and saw that it had double in size and  spread to the other foot.  Okay, we needed to do something about it.  Now I couldn't run barefoot or wear flip-flops!

Yes, that's what it looked like!
 I thought it was bad until... oops!  I'm getting ahead of myself!

So we finally decided it best to go to a podiatrist.

That was... a bad mistake!

A few days later, my foot looked like this:
That is actually my foot!

The bottom looked like this:
Ow!  Yes, it did hurt!  In fact I couldn't walk (normally) for a week!

My entire foot swelled up...

But...

After a very painful couple of weeks, I looked at my foot to see that my wart was gone!!!

Or so I thought.

A few weeks later, I examined my foot to see:
...This.
What?!  My wart was suppose to be gone!  Not big, huge, and ugly like this!
(Go back to the first picture.)

My toe continued to have this growth on it... and we didn't know what to do.
(I said I would never go back to that podiatrist!)

I don't know what would have happened if my Mother hadn't said to try putting us that if we put Manuka honey on it.  Supposedly it would go away.
I must admit: I was skeptical.  Very skeptical.
The doctor didn't work, why would this?

Thankfully, I was wrong.

Well, at first the wart didn't look like it was getting any better.  In fact, it looked worse.

Now I was really skeptical.

Was this ever going to get better?

But we stuck with the idea and one day, I looked at my foot to find....
NO WART!!!

That's right!  A week or two later, the Manuka honey had cleared everything up!
The only thing that is left is a scar and... a bad memory!

Anyway, it really made me think.  Here we try to come up with new methods to heal problems when sometimes we don't even look at the resources God has given us!
God has designed our world with wonderful and amazing assets that will promote our health and well being.  But often times, we are too skeptical (yes, that's me!) to use these resources.  Sometimes the Professionals aren't even needed.  In other words, God is the best Doctor!

To sum it up, I am very thankful that my Mother came up with this wonderful idea in the first place!
Whew!  No more warts!
Our God is an awesome God!

Charles Spurgeon on Family

"The Christian family was the bulwark of godliness in the days of the Puritans; but in these evil times hundreds of families of so-called Christians have no family worship, no restraint upon growing sons, and no wholesome instruction or discipline. See how the families of many professors are as dressy, as gay, as godless as the children of the non-religious! How can we hope to see the kingdom of our Lord advance when his own disciples do not teach his gospel to their own sons and daughters?"

Girl Time Ends... And a New Life Begins!

Whew!  What a week!  I admit: I am behind on posting...

First I must say how we ended our "Girl Time".
Yes, we watched the entire "Pride and Prejudice" movie (1996 version)... in two days!

I competed in Oregon Right To Life's Oratory contest...

...And by God's grace, I won first place!!!  I will be competing at state.

The competitors Bethany, Luke Douglas, and Chloe Anderson with the judges.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After all our fun, we rushed off to the airport to pick up the rest of the family!
Now, I must out in that right before we left, we had a terrible storm and ended up losing electricity!!!  That means, no lights and then no water, because we are on well water!
And here is the entire family... except for Eden who was the photographer.
After a very special time of greeting and meeting each other, we headed off to a hotel room...
All SEVEN children!
Introducing:
Our adorable Havilah Tirfe.
Our handsome little Benjamin Abezu.
We made do with what we could in our hotel room.
Thankfully, Mommy had just made a big pot of Minestrone Soup which we grabbed on our way out the door for a delicious dinner!
For this family of NINE, the hotel room was quite tight!  :)
Judah was all giddy to now be a big brother!
Okay, I just have to post another picture of the cuties!
Benjamin
Havilah
Daddy brought home a lot of "booty" (as he called it)...
Here are the girls in their Ethiopian shawls, outfits, and jewelry!
It made us feel really rich!
"Thank you, Daddy!"
Brothers...
Eden's "Welcome Home" cake!  She did a great job!
And yes, we've already got them started on the Irish Ceili Dancing!
That's how things work in our family!
I hope you enjoyed this rather lengthy post...
We are overjoyed with the blessings that God has given us!
Thank you for your prayers, support, and friendship during this time!
Ice Skating
Yes, that's right!  For Monday "Girl Time", we went ice skating with our dear friend Bethany J.
We had a lot of fun... and a lot of falls!  None of us are that talented and we all couldn't remember the last time we went skating but we sure had a good time!
Enjoy the picture from our day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Gearing up to go...

...And out on the ice!

Eden and I having a grand time!

Bethany and Shiloh going by...

...And then posing for the camera!
(Believe me, it takes some talent to be able to stand still like that!)

Can you tell that we were enjoying ourselves?!

And after a wonderful skate!

"Thanks for coming, Bethany!  We enjoyed skating with you!"

Stay tuned, Shiloh will be putting together a movie of our adventure on the ice!

Oh, and I forgot to mention Judah... he came and watched us all skate!
When Mommy asked him what he thought of the ice, he told her, "It's cold!"

Waving at Judah from behind the glass.

"Girl Time" Begins!

Yes!  It's true!
Yesterday, we dropped Daddy and Jordan off at the airport for their trip to Ethiopia to pick up our two new siblings!
Now at home, it's just Mommy, the girls and Judah...
Us girls, decided that we would make party out of this.  So for a whole ten days (while the men are gone), we will be having our much needed "Girl Time"!  Stay tuned to our blog for the frequent updates that we will be posting on our blog.
Watch this video to see what we will be doing:

-----------------------------

And they're off!
-------------------------------

We kicked off our fun last night by watching about five of the "Little House on the Prairie" episodes... and we went to bed at 2:00 AM!

Well, we have to admit... we are going to miss the guys... but we girls are going to have the time of our lives!

Stay tuned!
