Of Mice, Rocks, & Bricks

Today, I got to clean out the nest of three mice who had moved into our goat supply shed.  Maybe more, but I didn't take the time to check.  In order to keep me company and help me live through cleaning up this scary mess I took along my three youngest siblings on the adventure of the epic, "Who Can Find the Mouse Game".  Eventually, the clean up became a wonderful object lesson as I showed Judah (5), Havilah (5), and Benjamin (3) how mice build their houses out of shredded up trash. 

"Shiloh, there is a glove!" Benjamin announced to which I replied, "Yes, the mouse went and took that out of the trash and put it in his house.  Are we supposed to live in trash?"  Havilah answered with a very solemn, "No."  Finally after cleanning a bit more, Judah announced: "Shiloh, when I get married, I am going to build my house out of rocks and bricks and more rocks and bricks!"

Moral of the story according to the 5 year old: We should live in houses built of rocks and bricks... not trash.

A Four Year Old’s Perspective :-)

A recent conversation with my 4-year-old brother~


Judah: “How old are you?”

Me: “19”

Judah: “When I get 19 and you are 19 I will be your age!”

Wow~ how fun will that be?  Usually, Judah keeps me laughing when he tells me that he'll carry me around when I get little and he gets big...  He has this idea that as he grows older I grow younger.  ;)  But I guess now I get to stay 19 for awhile until he catches up with me.  =)

My "Littlest" Brother... :)

My little brother recently informed me that I have “Tiger Teeth” and to top that off I also have a “Tiger Tongue”! Quite impressive!! Now whenever he’d like to see my tongue/teeth (don’t ask my why—maybe he plans to be a dentist) he asks to see my “Tiger Teeth” or my “Tiger Tongue”. Since I am the one and only big Sister with the Tiger Mouth… we simply had to come up with a name for his mouth… So, now Judah has “Bear Teeth” and a “Bear Tongue”. Once again- quite impressive! What kind of teeth do you have??

Today, I put my little brother down to bed. As I was praying with him he started laughing a little. I stopped praying and asked, “Why are you laughing?” He answered, “I laughing at oo. OO are o unny (you are so funny).” Well, I am quite flattered with this compliment! So, we finished up our joyful prayer by praying that he (Judah) would be cheerful when he wakes up!

I'm so thankful the Lord has given me such an adorable little fellow to be my "littlest" brother!

Dinner Discussions

Today, at the dinner table Judah called over to me and said, "Yie-yo, i-ers go oo the lake of ie-er." Hmmm... I thought maybe was taking to me about the fire station again. Mommy looked over to me and said, "He just said, "Liers go to the lake of fire. How does he know that? Did you tell him?" Judah answered, "Yah! De-De tell me". So, there you have it! Out of the mouth of infants and babes!

** In the picture above and below Judah is playing football. After seeing Facing the Giants a few times he now is quite a pro at it. Warning: for all those who would like to join in the game with him: if you ever come to our home and decide to play... when it's your turn to kick the ball... you will have to wear the fireman helmet... It's the only thing he has that's close enough to the real thing! =)

The Legend of the Blue Marker

Lately we’ve noticed that when ever Judah comes down stairs after his time with Bethany in the morning his hands are stained dark blue all over. We decided not to worry too much about it when one sister mentioned that we girls have a quite a store of colored markers in our room. Fast-forward to a few days later… Again Judah is up in the girl’s room, but this time a friendly sister decided to pay him a visit. After playing sometime Judah mentioned to his big sister that she had “blue on her face”… After checking in a nearby mirror, Judah did indeed prove to be correct. Blue marker on sister’s face… Conclusion of the Legend: Keep clear of little brother’s blue stained hands… or wash his hands before playing!

The other day when as I was getting out the Ergo to take Judah on a night time walk he asked me who was going to take a ride in it. I told him that he was. He answered by telling me that when I get to be teeny like him and he gets to be big like me... He is going to give me rides in the Ergo!

Isn't he quite a nice little gentleman?
